Live Sockets Press Release

On the Scene at JGTC media day and more drifting news

D1 Productions will be running their Dec 19th Japan vs. http://www.d1gp.com US event in conjunction with the JGTC event http://www.jgtcusa.net in Fontucky at the California Speedway. Anyone who bought tickets for the event can bug them about the change. We jsut got back from the JGTC media day and all we can say is wow. Look for a complete review of the press day shortly. All we can say is riding w/ Tarzan in the Team Taisan Viper was the highlight of the day. WOW! Now we know why everyone's whining about letting Mopar compete w/ this platform in Formula D. The power and fluidity of the car drifting is amazing. I guess it doesn't hurt to have someone like Tarzan driving that sucker either. Big ups to Randy, Mike and all the lads at Paramax for giving us a sneak peek at the Dec. GT Live Event.

We just heard through the grapevine that for '05 the World Drifting Championships (WDC) will come out to play competing with the D1 and Formula D series here in the US. Funny that this "World" Drifting series has only scheduled events in the US for its inaugural season. Touring with the new Primedia produced Hard Drive event series that promises to fuse lifestyle elements with the import culture should give this series some added exposure and spectators. But then again remember Traxion?...Exactly.

Currently the US drifting market is not mature enough to support two "National" series. Manufacturers are waiting to see whether this drifting thing is only a fad or not before they put some real money into the sport. But until then; the sport will remain at the grassroots level regardless of all the moniker that have been placed on these series. Most drivers will probably just pick and choose which events to compete in based on what's in their bank account at the time. Shameless plug.

Appetite 4 http://www.livesockets.com/home2/index.php?channel=a4d Destruction in stores this week. Get 'em while they got 'em. SEMA is just around the corner and everyone is rushing to finish up last minute preparations for the show. We'll be there for a few days to shake some hands and kiss some babies. Look for us at all of the open bar parties. We're hoping to see some cool innovative product this year so bring your game people!

Music from the underground. EA Sports' Need for Speed Underground 2 launch party at Irwindale Speedway October 25 w/ special performance by Snoop Dog. Bring your body armour yo, we don't want any of you getting killed out there. The event will consist of heads up battle between the top 16 Formula D drivers with the winner taking home a brand new Nismo Spec 350 Z or $10k in cash. Check with the Slipstream boys on details of this event.

Tickets are only $10 so get 'em while they last. This may be a good chance for you to hob nob w/ 3rd rate celebs (like us) who play way too much video games.
