On July 17, 2010, some of Oahu's finest vehicles converged on Aloha Stadium for a celebration of candy paint, chrome wheels and engines capable of inhaling gasoline and exhaling flames. With categories for all makes, models, and styles, there were also special appearances by Christine Mendoza and Francine Dee. The first ever StreetDreams Showdown had something for everyone.
Even though the main sponsors were Street Source and Mini Truckin Magazines', the imports easily outnumbered the mini trucks and lowriders. What they lacked in numbers, the classic domestics and mini trucks made up with style and quality. Many Impalas even came with matching lowrider bikes to help navigate through the parking lot.
On the import side of things, the resurgence of a clean and well built street car was on the rise. While the last few car shows we've had seemed like a VIP-fest, StreetDreams was the resurgence of the big "H". Soichiro Honda would be proud.
As with any competition, there will always be controversy. Many complained of the judging, such as some categories that weren't judged as advertised on the flyers, we have to be grateful for every event that we can get. It's been years since we've had a track.
