In recent years there has been a large global automotive movement among aftermarket tuners. Tracing its roots to Japan, specifically influenced by Yakuza members, VIP tuning has become quite popular. Characterized by luxury cars dressed in flashy 20" wheels with subtle yet complete body modifications, and aggressively low stances thanks to air suspension. The terms low offset and negative camber are always associated with VIP cars. Never before has you fathers or grandfathers luxury sedan ever looked so wicked. To me a car is quite spectacular when your average person who knows nothing about cars, stares and even points as one of these hunks rolls down the street. A car like this does not even have to be in motion to receive respect.

In Hawaii, or as I like to call it "the lost island of Japan," VIP cars slowly roam the road on a daily basis, only coming together at events and gatherings. Ryan Lorenzo's 2004 Lexus LS 430 best represents the term VIP. Built from the ground up by Ryan and Revision Audio, this Lexus has seen it's fair share of car shows in the 808. Flexing its Falken rubber at Neostreet 2008, Ryan's ride snatched 2nd place honors, also taking Best VIP including Best of Show at other events. Known in the rest of the world as a Toyota Celsior this machine is a promotional vehicle for AreaFifty Hawaii and the decibel gurus at Revision Audio.

Ryan chose to place his ride on a very high pedestal. Mister Lorenzo tried and succeeded, being the first in Hawaii equipping 20" and 21" fitments. Rolling on rare and pricey Trafficstar DTX wheels this alabaster beast pierces the night with large amounts of exclusiveness. The body is clothed with pieces from Japanese VIP stylist G-Answer. Toyota factory rain guards shield the windows. Air Runner suspension keeps height in check and allows Ryan to creep as low as he's willing to go. Whomever is lucky enough to ride shotgun gets stared at by Junction Produce wooden table and Beatsonic dash kit. The leather stage is illuminated by LED interior lighting. Kenwood commands what is heard by the ears.

In times like these you don't need a lot to make a car look good, but having vision and carefully choosing the right parts creates greatness. VIP tuning does require loads of time and money, but to someone like Ryan being able to drive it in a sea of boring metal makes it all worth it.
