A few years back, one of the most known Mitsubishi Evolution’s in Hawaii was a white Evo VIII with gold Advan wheels. It was one of the few Evo’s that was modified as soon as the Evolution was released in the US. That was 5 years ago and that same guy, Third Jarlego, comes back with another masterpiece, but this time starting fresh with an entirely new Evolution IX
Unlike some tuners, throwing on some JDM lights, a lip kit, and a few carbon fiber parts and calling a day was just not Third’s style. He wanted to make a statement that his car was more than just looking good, but truly a beast deep down inside. Going with aero styling that’s used on racing tracks in Japan, Third put on a Voltex front bumper along with
canards and side skirts. Garnishing the rear is a Voltex rear diffuser that not only looks mean but is also functional.
Powering this little 4 cylinder car is a Garrett GT30 turbo that is complimented by an array of goodies such as parts by AMS, Tial, HKS, Jun, and ARC just to name a few. With the combination of parts that Third has, it all comes together to create a whopping 430 horsepower. To some people that may not seem a lot, but coming from a little 2 liter engine with power going to all 4 wheels, moving a 4 door sedan, driving over speed bumps like it’s a stock car, and filling up the tank at a gas station like a normal person --- this car is will eat street cars up like nothing with no excuses.
It’s to bad that this is the end of the road for this Evo IX because its time for Third to move onto his next project: the all new Evolution X. Now don’t feel too bad that this Evo is saying bye-bye; atleast you got this issue of XHIFT Magazine as one of your references as to how to make your car like his.
